Calling all baristas for the inaugural Cincinnati Coffee Festival Latte Art Throwdown. Wherever baristas gather, you can expect a latte art throwdown as a means of camaraderie, friendly competition, and expression of our craft.

Latte Art Throwdown Rules

Bracket will be set by 10a on Sat 11 Nov in order to accommodate last-minute additions. The throwdown will start at 10.30a – you must be available when your name is called. Two baristas will pour head-to-head for three judges to determine who advances to the next round. The baristas eliminated from the final four will pour one final time to determine the third place barista. The final round will determine the champion followed by the second place barista.

This is a one-pull, one-pour throwdown.

Cups will be Acme & Co latte cups: https://www.acmecupsusa.com/collections/original-cups/products/acme-latte-cup-6-pack

You are welcome to bring your own steaming pitcher or use one provided.

Milk will be Traders Point Creamery whole milk.

Latte art will be judged on overall aesthetic. While factors of great latte art (color infusion, contrast, symmetry) will be considered, judges will independently choose their preferred pour and the barista who earns at least 2 out of 3 judges’ votes advances.
